The U.S. Agricultural Trade Office (ATO) in Hong Kong works closely with importers, wholesalers, retailers and other trade promotion organizations to increase the sale of U.S. food and agricultural products in Hong Kong and Macau. We concentrate our efforts on market development and related marketing issues in Hong Kong and the region. ATO Hong Kong sponsors promotional activities, gives support to existing U.S. products in the market as well as aggressively introduces and promotes new-to-market products from the United States.
The ATO is one of the many overseas offices of the Foreign
Agricultural Service (FAS) , an agency of the U.S.
Department of Agriculture. The primary role of FAS is to promote the export of U.S. agricultural products into foreign markets. As the representative for America's largest industry and the world's largest agricultural exporter, FAS takes the lead in promoting U.S. food, fiber and forest products to Hong Kong importers and consumers. In 2014, Hong Kong was the United States' 4th largest market for consumer oriented agricultural products and the 6th largest market for total U.S. agricultural product exports. Hong Kong is a very important market and it is our wish to continue our close ties with our important contacts in the local food industry.
